Now in its seventeenth year, the festival has grown substantially since its inception. What started out as weekend amateur get-together created by the Noosa Malibu club as an excuse to invite their mates up to Noosa for a weekend of Surfing has evolved into a week long celebration of surfing and stoke, where competitors from all around the globe converge on Noosa for a week of surfing and entertainment.
8oo plus surfers attended and competed in 20 Divisions over the 7 days. the week didn't start out too well, arriving late Sunday after dark we headed to the Festival site to check in and heard the stories of there having been waves, waking early Monday morning we headed to First Point only to be greeted by a wave devoid line-up and news that the competition area had been moved further down main beach, near to the river-mouth where it stayed for the first half of the week.
Fortunately the waves stated to break at First Point later in the week on the tide and the Surfing returned to the point with the swell increasing and ensuring nice 2 foot set waves at the Point for the Finals on Sunday
